He Does Not Have The Looks Of A Typical Ballet Dancer, When He Started Moving I Was Left In Awe!

Among the dancers who have made themselves a name in the field of professional ballet, Sergei Polunin cannot miss in the list.  Polunin had grown up in the London’s prestigious Royal Ballet from when he was as young as 13 years. By the time he was 19 years of age, he had secured himself a spot as one of the principals of the company. He had everything to make a career out of it, but in January of the year 2012, he surprised everyone when he left the prestigious Royal Ballet unexpectedly.

His abrupt decision to leave the ballet made The Telegraph to interview him. In the interview, he revealed how he had been forced into a profession he was not passionate about. He had left his family while he was so young to join the Royal Ballet Lower School within London. The only family he knew were the members of the ballet and that meant he had little connection with his parents.  Even though his talent had enabled him to rise to the role of the principal, the prestige associated with the role is not what he wanted. All he was in need of was more opportunities.

Polunin’s story brings out clearly the effects associated with not giving a child the freedom of deciding his or her future. His performance within this video took place after he had attained the kind of freedom he was looking for. Please watch it and let us know what you think about it.
