Presently, the majority of the elementary schools countywide are not emphasizing on music education, but there still remain some teachers who understand the importance of music.
Malinda Williams is an extraordinary teacher at Baldwin Hills Elementary School in Los Angeles. Her Facebook timeline portrays her to be a Motown classics’ fan. She was disappointed to see the current children listening to songs such as “Watch Me Whip/NaeNae,” when there are a lot of good music out there.
This is the reason as to why Williams decided to take all the 3rd, 4th, and the 5th grade students back to the good old days of Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, and The Jackson 5, when they ruled the music world. Out of the videos that were taken by Williams’ students in the musical revue known as “The Sounds of Motown,” one of it went viral from the time she uploaded it on Facebook.
Just in one night, this video whereby Williams’ students dance to the song of the Jackson 5 “I Want You Back,” has become popular. She wrote on her Facebook that she was proud for teaching her students to dance, many of them being their first time. She said that from the responses she had got in a couple of days, she came to realize that the Almighty Lord had offered her something exceptional. She went on to thank God and confessed to love the children, the dance, the classical music and teaching!
Please SHARE this video to your friends as a way of giving thanks to her good work!
